Description: This layer represents the Treaty Boundary boundary label which is comprised of all the polygons that represent the historical treaty lands of Canada negotiated by First Nations over the years through treaty-making between 1867 - 1999. The approximate boundaries illustrate the traditional territories described in First Nations Statements of Intent to negotiate treaties which have been submitted to, and accepted.
The Treaty Boundary dataset provides users with GIS ready, but highly generalized, polygonal representation of all Treaty areas in the province of Alberta. The boundaries are suitable for indexing purposes, but are not suitable for detailed analysis purposes.
The Treaty Boundary boundary label layer, where the label symbology and display, is controlled by a label manager using two (2) general scale ranges and five (5) view optimized scales ranges as follows:
